About

My research examines how social processes in close relationships, such as social control and social support, relate to health and well-being, particularly through health behaviours such as physical activity. Using dyadic intensive longitudinal methods—including ecological momentary assessment (EMA)—and experimental approaches such as dyadic just-in-time adaptive interventions (JITAIs), I study how these processes unfold over time and through which mechanisms.

I also develop statistical methods, open-source R tools, and teaching materials for dyadic and intensive longitudinal research. At the University of Zurich, I teach mHealth and ambulatory assessment, and I teach workshops on dyadic data analysis, including at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin Summer School (opens in a new tab). I am also a core group member of the IRH Collaborative (opens in a new tab) and designed and maintain its website.

Open-source software and teaching materials

dyadMLM

dyadMLM is an R package for preparing and checking cross-sectional and intensive longitudinal dyadic data for linear and generalized linear mixed-effects models. It supports the Actor–Partner Interdependence Model, Dyad–Individual Model, and Dyadic Score Model parameterizations and provides post-estimation tools. Models are fitted with packages such as glmmTMB or brms.
